SISU Lean Leadership Tour We will be hosting a private benchmarking tour on June 11-12th in Salt Lake City.  The tour will visit three award-winning organizations, known for their world-class cultures of improvement.  The first stop will be to Intermountain Healthcare, where we will learn more about how they are engaging teams in daily problem solving and about their leadership development program and cultural maturity assessment.  Next, we will travel to Bryan Crowell’s company, JD Machine, to see each of the 4-Key Systems in action in a precision machine shop environment.  Day two starts with a tour of US Synthetic (2011 winner of the Shingo Prize), with a focus on developing a culture of maximum engagement through the development of leaders at each level of the organization.  Finally, Mike Martyn will host a workshop on the role of leaders in developing a culture of daily kaizen and an action planning session to maximize the lessons learned from the tours.

SISU Coaching Camp At the heart of a leader’s role in creating a culture of continuous improvement is to coach and develop their people.  Often overlooked however, is the role management systems play in driving behavior and creating opportunities for leaders to connect and engage their people on a daily basis.  Leveraging the latest research in neuroscience and the art of creating intrinsic motivation, SISU created a coaching camp where team leaders, managers and executives learn the principles of world-class coaching systems in a learn-by-doing format.  During the camp, leaders will also learn how to apply the coaching principles to design world-class daily huddles.  Connected and cascading huddles create a structured approach to changing behavior by instituting daily habits of success, which engage leaders and teams in the process of setting challenging goals, problem solving performance gaps and driving daily kaizen at the team level.

The camp will be hosted by La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries in Portland, OR, July 1-2nd.  La-Z-Boy Portland has been implementing lean since 1994 and was the recipient of the 2008 Shingo Research Prize for their work designing a sales boot camp based on the TWI Methodology.  Since 2010, La-Z-Boy has implemented the 4-Key Systems to radically transform their culture and drive industry leading business results.  Over the course of 4 years, the organization has improved revenue 46.7%, improved inventory turns 41.7% and implemented over 7,000 employee suggestions.
